The study showed differences in travel by age
This summer, young people are betting on large cities and foreign destinations, while pensioners are more likely to choose health and cultural holidays within the country. This follows from the data of a study by Ozon Travel and NPF "THE FUTURE", which were reviewed on April 22 by Izvestia.
Currently, there is an increase in interest in rail travel within the country. The demand for early ticket bookings among Russians over the age of 65 increased 3.3 times, among young people aged 25-35 — 2.2 times, and among the pre-retirement audience — almost doubled.
In the segment of domestic tourism, older travelers are more likely to choose cultural, tourist and recreational routes. Among the most sought—after destinations are Moscow–St. Petersburg, where demand has increased 3.5 times, as well as Nizhny Novgorod-Moscow (an increase of three times), Moscow–Voronezh, Moscow–Kazan, Moscow–Novorossiysk and Moscow–Yessentuki (an increase of two times). At the same time, representatives of the older generation travel to Mineralnye Vody more often by plane — the demand for air tickets has increased 1.6 times.
Travelers aged 55-65 prefer to combine vacation formats. The Yaroslavl–St. Petersburg railway route showed record growth by 33 times. The demand for trips from Moscow to Kazan has also increased (fivefold) and Moscow to Anapa (nine times). At the same time, Sochi remains popular: early flight bookings, in particular in the Ufa–Sochi direction, have almost doubled.
Major cities and beach destinations are of the greatest interest among young people. Reservations for Anapa–Moscow railway tickets have more than tripled, and Moscow–St. Petersburg has doubled. At the same time, the demand for air travel is growing: it has almost tripled in the Ufa–Sochi direction, and doubled in St. Petersburg-Sochi.
A separate trend is the growing interest in foreign travel. Batumi, Tbilisi and Yerevan are gaining popularity among tourists over the age of 65. The demand for flights to these destinations has increased almost 16, 14 and four times, respectively.
For Russians aged 55-65, Turkey remains the key foreign destination. Early bookings for Moscow–Istanbul flights increased sixfold, and Moscow–Antalya increased almost fivefold. There has also been a noticeable increase in interest in Georgia: the Moscow–Batumi route has shown an increase of more than five times.
Young travelers, in turn, are more likely to choose Asian countries. The most noticeable growth was recorded in the Shanghai direction: the demand for flights from Moscow increased almost 21 times.
In addition, according to the survey, 47.3% of Russians expect to spend no more than 200 thousand rubles on vacation. Another 14% are ready to allocate from 200 to 300 thousand rubles for travel, the same amount — from 300 to 500 thousand rubles. Experts note that such indicators indicate the formation of a more rational approach to vacation planning.
On April 8, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, Vice President of the Alliance of Travel Agencies (ATA), said that Russian tourists had canceled about 25% of bookings for the May holidays in Dagestan. At the same time, the company's analysts believe that demand in the direction will recover in the coming weeks.
