Cardiologist warned about the danger of asymptomatic coronary heart disease
One of the dangers of coronary heart disease is its potential to be asymptomatic. In Russia, the disease is the cause of up to 80% of sudden deaths due to heart problems, said Yuri Lopatin, cardiologist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor at Volgograd State Medical University, on April 20.
"The main cause of sudden cardiac death, up to 80% of cases, is coronary artery disease, which can be asymptomatic. High—risk groups include patients with a heart attack, heart failure, and severe arrhythmias," he told RIA Novosti.
