- Russia ranks ninth in the world in terms of availability of cucumbers among major economies.
Russia ranks ninth in the world in terms of availability of cucumbers among large economies, and 1 kg of this vegetable costs an average of 217 rubles for a domestic consumer. This became known on April 20 following an analysis based on open data.
"Russia is one of the countries with relatively affordable cucumbers, primarily due to its high self-sufficiency and large-scale greenhouse production, which reduces dependence on imports and currency fluctuations. Cucumbers are perceived as a basic product, so retail keeps minimum margins," Yaroslav Kabakov, Director of Strategy at Finam IC, explained to RIA Novosti.
