Russian military personnel of the Center group of forces have begun using drones to remotely mine the territory as part of their tasks in the area of a special military operation. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on April 20.

"Remote mining prevents losses. It's better to lose a "bird" than a human. And to complete the combat mission," said Daniil Pavlov, head of the engineering service of the SME group of forces "Center".

To convert drones to such tasks, they undergo a modernization process, as a result of which they can perform aerial mining tasks. A reset system is additionally installed on the drones and displayed on the control panel. This allows the operator to install the ammunition and return the device back.

With the help of programming, it is also possible to make upgraded unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) resistant to the effects of enemy electronic warfare (EW).

"Let's say my "birds" are now, if communication is lost, if they hit an enemy electronic warfare system, they continue to fly in a straight line until they leave the affected area," said Sergey Vanzhi, commander of the engineering service department.

In an interview with Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin, the fighters said that remote mining operations are carried out on a point-by-point basis. Paths or other routes of movement of the enemy act as potential places for the installation of projectiles.

"Remote mining is designed specifically for paths and roads. That's exactly where we detect enemy movement, which path is there — we immediately fly there and close it," said Daniil Pavlov.

Soldiers of the 4th Brigade of the Southern Group of Forces said a day earlier that they had begun using ground-based robotic systems to deliver food, equipment and ammunition in the area of their military operations. This technique is used in difficult and dangerous terrain, when delivery on foot or by car is difficult. In carrying out logistical tasks in Konstantinovka, the soldiers are assisted by an NRTK — a robotic trolley on a tracked or wheeled track.
