The perpetrator, who killed eight young children in Louisiana during the shooting, was identified as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, a veteran of the US Army. This was reported on April 19 by the New York Post (NYP).

"The shooter <... He was a 31-year—old army veteran who, a few hours before Sunday's massacre, posted a photo of himself with one of his daughters," the publication says.

This information is also confirmed by posts from his wife's social media page.

"Earlier, in 2016, the wife of a serial killer posted a photo of Elkins in a U.S. Army uniform, awaiting his return from active duty," the article says.

Elkins killed eight people and injured 10 others in the attack. At the same time, seven of the victims were his own children.

The shooting incident became known earlier that day. The first call regarding the incident was received after 06:00 a.m. local time (14:00 Moscow time). The callers initially notified law enforcement officials about a family quarrel. All the victims ranged in age from a few months to 14 years old.
