Control of the Strait of Hormuz allowed Iran to get out of the conflict with the United States and Israel, having a ready-made "plan to intimidate opponents." This was reported on April 18 by The New York Times (NYT).

"The US-Israeli war has caused significant damage to Iran's state system, navy, and missile production plants, but has had almost no effect on its ability to control the strait. Thus, his government can come out of the conflict with a ready—made plan to intimidate opponents, regardless of the possible limitations of the nuclear program," the publication says.

It is reported that Iran lost a number of weapons during the conflict. At the same time, there are currently enough of them to control the situation in the strait.

"The estimates of American intelligence and the military differ somewhat, but many officials say that Iran has retained up to 40% of the pre-war arsenal of drones. They have proven themselves to be a powerful deterrent," the article says.

The vulnerability of civil fleet vessels to the threat of the use of kamikaze drones is highlighted separately.

"If American warships shoot them down without much difficulty, then commercial tankers are practically not protected," the NYT reports.

On the same day, the US Navy intercepted 23 ships linked to Iran as part of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. American forces provide a naval blockade of ships entering or exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas.

On April 13, the United States began a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz due to the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. It is carried out against ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.
