Hungary will continue to block the allocation of €90 billion in loans from the European Union (EU) to Ukraine until the Druzhba oil pipeline is fully operational. This was announced on April 19 by the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban.

According to the politician, a signal was received from Brussels about Kiev's readiness to launch oil transit. In exchange, the Ukrainian side expects Budapest to remove its barriers to the community's credit line. Orban stressed that his country's position remains unchanged: the receipt of the resource is directly related to the solution of the financial issue.

"Hungary's position has not changed: if there is oil, there is money," the prime minister wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

He also noted that Hungary is not burdened with financial responsibility for this loan and does not benefit from the current blockade. As soon as pumping is restored, Budapest will stop using the credit line as a pressure tool, Orban concluded.
