The US decision to extend the license for the sale of oil from Russia was made after a meeting of representatives of the G20 members in Washington, where the other participants requested it. This was announced on April 19 by Chris Wright, head of the US Department of Energy.

"The G20 conference was held here, and bankers from all over the world came to us, who, in fact, made requests.: "We want energy prices to remain low for us," Wright told CNN.

He added that the partners had asked the United States to "be constructive" towards them. However, the head of the Ministry of Energy stressed that the United States would at some point restore its ban on Russian oil supplies.

On April 17, the US Treasury Department renewed the license for the sale of Russian oil loaded on tankers until April 17. The permit will be valid until May 16.

On April 15, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant indicated that easing sanctions against Russian oil could stabilize the global fuel market. In his opinion, the price of oil could jump to $250 per barrel, but this did not happen due to the easing of sanctions.
