Uninhabited island completely burned down in Lapland
One of the uninhabited islands in Lapland completely burned out due to the inaction of Finnish firefighters who arrived on its shores. This was reported on April 19 by the newspaper Italehti, citing rescuers.
The fire, as noted in the article, was recorded on the island of Likasaari, located near the Finnish village of Karunki. It is specified that there is a high fire danger regime in this territory.
"At this stage, there is no active fire extinguishing, the island is allowed to burn down completely," the article says.
Representatives of fire brigades staying at the scene of the incident ensure that the fire does not spread to their mainland or nearby islands.
On March 4, Popular Science magazine reported on the rapid spread of the invasive stinkweed in Arizona, USA, which may be the cause of forest fires. A plant of this type, as mentioned in the material, is especially dangerous in hot seasons, as it tends to dry out and become a material for subsequent ignition.
