Lukashenko says Belarus is ready for a big deal with the United States
On April 19, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus was ready for a "big deal" with the United States.
According to him, the future agreement with the American President Donald Trump should be concluded taking into account the interests of the two countries.
"And this is the topic of a big deal. <… > But it needs to be prepared so that the interests of both the United States of America and Belarus are there," Lukashenko said in an interview with RT.
At the same time, Lukashenko stressed that he was not "eager" to visit the United States and shake Trump's hand. He clarified that this is not the main goal, but the parties still have a lot to settle together. The President of Belarus also drew attention to the fact that the sanctions imposed by Europe against the republic "did not play a role" because the residents and authorities of the country adapted to them.
On the same day, Lukashenko said that for him, a meeting with the American leader was not an end in itself, because he was not the president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to ask for money and weapons. He also stressed that the meeting with the US leadership should not be a meeting of a "vassal and an emperor" for him.
