Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has promised to "put pressure" on right-wing political forces led by US President Donald Trump, bringing together "left-leaning" world leaders at a summit in Barcelona. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on April 19.

The authors of the material emphasized that, speaking at the Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Barcelona, the Spanish Prime minister presented this event as a coordinated international counteraction to what he called the "globalized far-right movement."

Sanchez highlighted the tariffs imposed by Trump and the conflict in the Middle East as factors that led to a large-scale undermining of multilateral institutions, and said that leftist forces around the world should respond to this.

On March 30, Spain closed its airspace to aircraft participating in the operation against Iran. According to the newspaper El Pais, Madrid prohibits the use of the bases of Rota (Cadiz province) and Moron de la Frontera (Seville province) for fighter jets and tanker aircraft.

On March 31, Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) called on Trump to impose tough sanctions against Spain in response to Madrid's decision to close its airspace to aircraft involved in the operation against Iran.
