A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Zapad group of troops improved the situation along the front line, defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Velikaya Shapkovka, Pristen, Kharkiv region, Krasny Liman and Lozove DPR. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 200 militants, five armored combat vehicles, 10 vehicles, three artillery pieces, and an ammunition depot.

In addition, the Southern Group of Troops has taken more advantageous lines and positions. The manpower and equipment of three mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in the areas of the DPR settlements. The enemy lost more than 200 militants, an M113 armored personnel carrier, four armored fighting vehicles, 17 vehicles, and three artillery pieces.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their tactical situation. They defeated the manpower and equipment of three mechanized, jaeger brigades, an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two brigades of Marines, <...>..> six brigades of the National Guard and the air defense brigade in the areas of settlements <...> of the Donetsk People's Republic and <...> of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 315 servicemen," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, has defeated Ukraine's energy infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, production workshops and places of preparation for launching long-range drones, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas.

In turn, air defense systems shot down six guided aerial bombs, a HIMARS multiple launch rocket, a long-range guided missile "Neptune" and 274 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 671 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 135,644 UAVs, 656 anti-aircraft missile systems, 28,970 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,703 multiple rocket launchers, 34,522 field artillery and mortars, 59,735 pieces of special vehicles.
