Three people were injured in an explosion at the BP Cherry Point oil refinery in Washington State. This was reported on April 18 by The Seattle Times.

Representatives of the company confirmed the fact of the incident. They noted that the situation at the refinery is under control and does not pose a threat to the nearest settlements. According to American rescuers, at about 10:20 a.m. local time, eyewitnesses heard the sounds of an explosion on the factory grounds. By now, the fire has been localized.

The details of what happened at the plant have not yet been disclosed. Information about the condition of the victims and the causes of the explosion is being clarified. The investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Earlier, on March 23, an explosion occurred at the Valero Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas. Sheriff Zena Stevens said the explosion was most likely caused by an industrial heater.
