Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with RT on April 19 that a meeting with American leader Donald Trump was not an end in itself, because he was not the president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to ask for money and weapons.

"It's not true that I'm eager to visit the United States of America and just shake hands with Donald Trump. Frankly, it would be nice to see this man face to face and shake his hand. But this is not an end in itself, it is not the main thing," the Belarusian leader said.

The Belarusian leader also stressed that the republic is ready for a big deal with the United States, but the interests of both countries must be taken into account. In addition, Lukashenko noted that a meeting with the US leadership should not be a meeting between a vassal and an emperor for him.
