Mushrooms are not recommended to be collected near roads, industrial areas and landfills. This was announced on April 19 by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

"Do not collect mushrooms near roads, industrial zones, landfills and other polluted areas," the RIA Novosti federal service reports.

The publication notes that mushroom picking in such places is unsafe due to the accumulation of heavy metals and other harmful substances.

Rospotrebnadzor also pointed out the rules that should be followed when picking mushrooms: among them, do not pick unfamiliar mushrooms and do not try them raw.

"In order not to put your family's health at risk, follow the safety rules: do not collect unfamiliar mushrooms, do not give them to children, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases <...> Do not taste raw mushrooms," the department concluded.

At the first sign of malaise, you should immediately seek medical help.

On April 16, Rospotrebnadzor announced that 11 natural plague outbreaks have been recorded in Russia, but there are no risks to the spread of the epidemic. It is noted that in 2025, local plague epizootics were registered in three foci. Seven natural plague outbreaks are of a cross-border nature and are located in the adjacent territories of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
