Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), arrived in Krasnodar Krai on a visit and took part in events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Yug Sport base.

The sports base is the largest training center for Russian national teams. The history of its origin begins in the middle of the 20th century, when the Sochi amateur Yacht Club opened on this site. At the same time, the Center itself was created later on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Right now, 17 Russian national teams are preparing for the next championships, world and European championships. Well, in general, it is adapted for 72 sports," Degtyarev said.

Earlier, the President of the Russian Federation personally visited the sports base, talked with athletes and took part in training. This highlights the strategic importance of the sports facility.

Degtyarev, in an interview with Izvestia on April 4, stressed that sport and its national sports are an intangible heritage that needs to be protected. According to him, many countries around the world admire Russia's practice of preserving national sports.
