- The WSJ has learned about the US preparations for an expanded naval operation against Iran
The US Navy is preparing to expand its operation against Iran. This was reported on April 18 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
In the coming days, U.S. military forces are preparing to board oil tankers linked to Iran and seize commercial vessels in international waters.
The authors of the material, citing American officials, stressed that such rhetoric arose against the background of an escalation in the issue of control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier in the day, Reuters reported that at least two ships were attacked while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agency, commercial vessels attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz received a radio message from the Iranian Navy, in which they were not allowed to pass through the strait. The incidents were recorded in the waters between the islands of Qeshm and Larak.
On April 18, Ebrahim Zolfagari, a representative of the central headquarters of the Iranian military command Khatam al-Anbiya, said that the Iranian Armed Forces had restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz due to the blockade by the United States.
