Hezbollah denied involvement in the death of a French soldier in Lebanon
On April 18, the Lebanese Hezbollah movement denied its involvement in the murder of French soldier Florian Montorio in southern Lebanon, who served in the UN mission in the republic.
Hezbollah denies any involvement in the incident involving the United Nations peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) in the Ghandourie Bint Jubail area. We urge caution in making judgments and assigning blame in connection with the incident until the completion of the investigation by the Lebanese army to clarify all the circumstances," the movement said in a Telegram channel message.
As indicated in Hezbollah, evidence of the movement's involvement in the death of the soldier has not yet been presented.
The Lebanese movement also called on the UN mission and the country's army to work together to clarify all the circumstances of the crime.
On April 18, the UNIFIL command reported that the UN interim force in southern Lebanon was attacked, one soldier was killed and three were injured. French President Emmanuel Macron has called for those responsible for the death of a French peacekeeper to be punished.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked several areas in southern Lebanon due to alleged violations of the ceasefire. The day before, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 2,294 people had been killed as a result of Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory since March 2.
