The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has attacked several areas in southern Lebanon due to alleged violations of the ceasefire. This was announced on April 18 by the army press service.

"Since the ceasefire came into force, IDF soldiers south of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon have identified several cases of terrorist violations of the ceasefire agreements. <...> After identifying the terrorists and eliminating the threat, the Israeli Air Force, together with ground troops, conducted targeted strikes against them," the IDF said in a statement. It clarifies that the army launched artillery strikes in support of ground troops, as well as against Hezbollah infrastructure facilities, which the movement used to attack Israel.

The day before, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 2,294 people had been killed as a result of Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory since March 2. At the same time, the Hezbollah group confirmed its readiness to observe the ceasefire regime, which Lebanon had agreed with Israel.

The truce between Israel and Lebanon for a period of 10 days came into force at 0:00 Moscow time on the same day. Prior to that, on April 16, US President Donald Trump announced that the parties had agreed to a cease-fire after trilateral negotiations with the participation of the United States.

Later, the Lebanese Army's press service also stated that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had violated the ceasefire. The agency also noted that the situation is monitored around the clock on the territory of the state. Trump also said that he personally forbade Israel from further attacks on Lebanon.
