Trump hopes his meeting with Xi Jinping will be historic
On April 17, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping would be historic.
"Our meeting in China will be special and potentially historic. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with President Xi — a lot will be achieved," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
The American leader also clarified that the Chinese president was glad that the Strait of Hormuz was opening.
White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced on March 25 that Trump would visit China and meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14 and 15. The American leader's wife Melania and Trump will also receive Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan in Washington on a return visit later this year.
