Russian Ambassador Nechaev declared the country's readiness for dialogue with Europe on equal terms

Russia is open to dialogue with European countries on an equal footing. This was stated on April 18 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev during a discussion on "Mutual understanding between East and West — for bolder diplomacy."

"We are open to negotiations. We are open to normalizing relations with all those States that want it themselves. Towards an equal dialogue on equal terms. Without having our finger pointed at where our place is," TASS quoted Nechaev as saying.

He added that Russia's position is of a principled nature. Meanwhile, Europe is unable to objectively assess Russian interests. Nevertheless, Nechaev expressed hope for a diplomatic path one way or another.

"Of course, we will no longer harbor illusions and will proceed from our national interests. But for those who want to talk to us soberly and reasonably, we are absolutely open," the Russian ambassador stressed.
