Russians can legally write off debts for housing and communal services through bankruptcy proceedings. This was announced on April 18 by State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev (LDPR).
"The bankruptcy procedure is the only legal mechanism that allows you to completely write off debts, including utility bills. As a general rule, housing and communal services debts incurred before filing for bankruptcy can be written off by court order. However, there are important nuances," Svishchev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
