FT pointed to a new threat to the global banking system due to AI
Finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives of relevant regulators have shifted their focus from geopolitics and debt risks to threats from the latest artificial intelligence (AI) models. This was reported on April 17 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.
According to the publication, the main topic was the experimental AI tool of the company Anthropic - Claude Mythos Preview. It has already demonstrated the ability to find thousands of highly critical vulnerabilities in all key operating systems and browsers.
The company already recognizes that it is only a matter of time before similar features become available to a much wider range of players.
So far, Mythos is being tested in a narrow circle of about 40 large companies, including Amazon, Apple and JPMorgan Chase. At the same time, OpenAI announced the launch of limited testing of the GPT-5.4-Cyber model for cybersecurity tasks.
On April 10, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant held a meeting with the heads of the largest American banks to discuss cyber risks related to the new model of Anthropic AI. It was clarified that Bessent had called the bankers to make sure they were aware of potential threats and were taking measures to protect their systems.
