Deep-sea seaport to be built in Yakutia
In Yakutia, a deep-water seaport will be built in the village of Naiba, Bulunsky district. This is one of the most important promising projects in the region.
Exploration work on the gold and tin deposits of the Kuchus cluster began within 300 km from the village of Naiba. To ensure their energy supply, Rosatom is building a 110 MW low-power nuclear power plant with two power units. It should be put into operation before 2030. In the future, the volume of cargo processing may grow to 10 million tons.
The construction of the deep-water port is included in the long-term comprehensive plan for the socio-economic development of the Tiksi-Naiba agglomeration, calculated until 2035. It was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. The project is also included in the list of transport and logistics infrastructure facilities that make up the backbone infrastructure network of the northern delivery. It was also approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The construction of a deep-sea seaport was discussed at the first meeting of the Maritime Council under the head of Yakutia. A new coordinating body was created to implement the tasks of the national maritime policy in the Arctic and to coordinate the implementation of decisions of the Russian Maritime Board.
Speaking at the meeting, the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, said that the Joint Council on Arctic and Marine Activities had previously worked in the region. But after the strengthening of the role of the Northern Sea Route and the growing strategic importance of Yakutia, it was decided to create a separate body.
According to Nikolayev, quoted by YakutiaMedia news agency, for the republic it is a matter of the strategic future, including the development of the Arctic territories, strengthening transport infrastructure, security, as well as opening up new economic opportunities.
The head of Yakutia instructed to keep the issue of the construction of the port under constant control, as this is one of the main activities of the Council. The work should be carried out taking into account the entire range of tasks, from the development of transport and port infrastructure to the organization of river logistics.
Earlier it was reported that in Yakutia, 32 km of roadway should be put in proper condition by the end of 2026. Work within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" will be carried out on the roads "Mukhtuya", "Umnas" and on the access road from the road "Nam" to the Kangalassy microdistrict.
