Oil prices dropped amid talks between Lebanon and Israel
Oil prices fell in early trading amid news of the entry into force of a 10-day truce between Lebanon and Israel. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 17.
Brent crude futures fell by $1.34, or 1.35%, to $98.05 per barrel at 00:21 GMT (03:21 GMT. Futures for U.S. WTI crude oil fell by $1.65, or 1.74%, to $93.40 per barrel," the material says.
The authors note that in March, oil prices rose by 50%, reaching a record high, and only recently dropped below $100 per barrel amid the start of the negotiation process between the United States and Iran.
The national Israeli radio Galei IDF reported on the same day that the truce between Israel and Lebanon for a period of 10 days had entered into force. Prior to that, the parties, through the mediation of the United States, agreed that a 10-day truce between Israel and Lebanon would come at 0:00 Moscow time on April 17.
The Lebanese Army's press service, in turn, said that the Israeli army had violated the ceasefire. In an appeal to citizens, the department urged not to rush to return to the southern villages and towns due to a number of violations of the ceasefire agreement, as a result of which Israeli attacks were recorded.
