The fragrance in the house forms the atmosphere, affects the emotional state, the feeling of comfort and even the psychological perception of the interior. On April 21, Mira Bruman, perfumer and founder of the Tonka Perfume brand, told Izvestia about how to choose the right scent and what to look for.

First of all, it is necessary to determine the functional task of the fragrance and understand what role it will play in the space. The choice of composition depends on it. Soft floral, woody and musky notes such as lavender, sandalwood or white musk are suitable for relaxation. For concentration— use fresh citrus fruits and green accents such as bergamot, lemon or green tea. To create comfort and a sense of hospitality, it is better to choose warm spicy and sweet notes, such as vanilla, cinnamon or soft coffee tones.

"It is important to consider the characteristics of the space. The intensity and perception of the fragrance depend on the area, ceiling height, ventilation and interior features. In small rooms, it is better to choose light and transparent compositions so as not to overload the perception. In larger spaces, rich aromas are suitable, which are revealed gradually," the expert explained.

When choosing a fragrance, it is important to consider its intensity and how it unfolds in space. The smell should be felt, but not intrusive. It is optimal to start with a small concentration — for example, add a minimum amount of oil to the diffuser or light a candle for a short time, and then, if necessary, enhance the effect. At the same time, it is worth paying attention to how the fragrance changes over time.

Also, Bruman added, it is necessary to take into account the season and the purpose of the premises. Light citrus and floral compositions are better suited for spring and summer, while woody, spicy and oriental notes create a cozy atmosphere in the cold season. Soft, relaxing scents are preferred for the bedroom, while richer and more expressive scents are preferred for the living room.

Personal perception also plays a key role. The fragrance should match the emotional state and lifestyle, not just current trends. It is the smells that evoke pleasant associations that form a feeling of comfort and inner balance.

"I recommend dividing the scents into zones: for the bedroom, kitchen and living room, choose different compositions based on their functions. It is also important to change the smells periodically in order to maintain a feeling of freshness and not overload the perception. Special attention should be paid to the quality of the ingredients: natural oils and modern synthetic notes provide a softer opening and stability of the fragrance, forming a harmonious perception of space," the specialist concluded.

On February 20, allergist-immunologist, rheumatologist, general practitioner of the National Research Medical Center NCC No. 2 of the Russian National Research Medical University named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky" Elena Sycheva said that the use of fake perfumes can lead to poisoning, skin diseases and allergic reactions due to the content of toxic substances. Instead of purified ethyl alcohol, technical alcohol containing methanol can be used in counterfeit products. This substance can cause severe poisoning, damage to vision and the nervous system.
