Scientists have predicted magnetic storms on Earth during the day
In the next 24 hours, magnetic storms will begin on Earth, caused by the flow of fast solar wind from the coronal hole. This was announced on April 17 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS and the ISSF SB RAS.
"According to calculations, today, by the end of the day, a stream of fast solar wind will catch up with the Earth, which will lead to a two- to three-day period of unstable geomagnetic conditions. The strongest impact is expected on Saturday and Sunday. Starting on Monday, the magnetic field will come into balance, and the active phase of the geomagnetic storm will end," the laboratory said in a message on its Telegram channel.
Scientists note that this coronal hole has already caused G1–G2 magnetic storms, and the forecast is similar this time.
On April 10, scientists predicted a deterioration in the geomagnetic situation for several days. It is noted that a medium-sized coronal hole is currently being fixed on the Sun.
