The Ministry of Health has identified the most non-smoking region of Russia

The Chechen Republic has become the most non-smoking region in Russia. This became known on April 17 from the data of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

It is noted that the percentage of smokers in this region was 0.62%. A low percentage of smoking was also recorded in the Zaporizhia region (4.35%) and the Krasnodar Territory (4.63%), RIA Novosti reported.

The non-smoking regions of the country also include the Republics of Ingushetia and Dagestan, as well as the city of St. Petersburg.

On October 21, 2025, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a law banning the sale of vapes and tobacco at bus stops. It was noted that if the law is adopted, it will enter into force on March 1, 2026. The measure is aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens' health from exposure to tobacco smoke and the negative effects of tobacco consumption.

Later, on November 19, the State Duma also adopted in the first reading a bill on licensing retail and wholesale trade in tobacco and nicotine-containing products.
