The May holidays, which fall during the period of annual paid leave, increase the actual rest time, but are not subject to payment. This was announced on April 17 by Tatyana Golubeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Business, Labor and Corporate Law of the RANEPA.

"According to Article 120 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, non-working holidays that fall during the period of annual paid leave are not included in the number of calendar days of vacation. This means that such days extend the actual rest period, but are not subject to payment," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

According to the expert, if an employee takes a vacation starting on May 1 for 14 calendar days, he will rest for 16 days due to the holidays. However, only 14 days will be paid. A similar scheme applies for other dates: if you take 15 days off from April 29, the actual break in work will be 17 days, but all the same 15 days are subject to payment.
