Fishing boat with Russians detained in Namibia
The Venus-1 fishing vessel, carrying Russian citizens, was detained in Namibia. This was announced on April 16 by the Russian Embassy in Namibia in the Telegram channel.
"[The situation] was the result of a civil conflict between the Namibian employer company and the crew of a fishing vessel," the statement said.
According to Sergey Vasilenko, head of the consular department at the Russian Embassy in Namibia, the health of the crew is currently satisfactory. The Diplomatic Mission will take the necessary steps to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Russian citizens.
There were 15 people on board the ship, 13 of whom are Russian citizens.
Also, off the coast of Japan, on April 13, a fire broke out on the fishing vessel Arina, which was carrying 30 Russians. It is specified that the Japanese security administration responded to the request from the Russian vessel. The fire was subsequently extinguished. No one was injured in the incident.
