Fico pointed to the EU's inability to bring Russia to its knees

The European Union's attempts to bring Russia to its knees represent a bad strategy, as Russians kneel only when they tie their shoelaces. This was announced on April 16 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a meeting with students, a recording of which was posted on YouTube.

"There is some kind of strategy: let's bring Russia to its knees. I think this is a bad and not working strategy. Every day I read in the news that the Russians are on their knees, but they are still not on their knees. Russians speak very correctly: We kneel only when we tie our shoes, not because someone else wants us to," he said.
