A Moscow court has arrested a man who shot his son with a gun.

A man born in 1949, who shot his own son, born in 1973, in his apartment in the Tagansky district of Moscow, was taken into custody. This was announced on April 16 by the press service of the Moscow Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused of murdering his son in the center of Moscow," the ministry said in a statement on the MAX messenger.

It was emphasized that the tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening, April 14, in one of the apartment buildings in Tovarishchesky Lane. The defendant in the criminal case under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder") used an IZH-12 shotgun.

Upon the fact of the incident, a number of investigative measures were ordered, including a forensic examination. Authorized persons are currently collecting evidence.

A source from Izvestia had said a day earlier that the deceased had been in prison under a drug-related article. At the same time, his father himself abused alcohol, which in turn caused conflicts in the family. The victim's mother, as specified, is currently suffering from cancer.
