Medinsky called for the exclusion of Germanic elements from Kaliningrad's heraldry.
It is worth considering the exclusion of Germanic elements from Kaliningrad's heraldry. This was announced on April 16 by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society, during the Baltic Cultural Forum.
"You all know that the heraldic symbols of municipalities are very richly represented by Germanic elements. To the point that the coats of arms of Baltiysk and Chernyakhovsk are a complete reincarnation of the German coats of arms.<... > I think it's time for us to pay attention to these issues," TASS quoted him as saying.
