In the UK, a 14-month-old baby died after a kindergarten teacher put him to sleep in a dangerous position. This was reported by the BBC on April 16.

The tragedy occurred in December 2022 at the Fairytales Day Nursery in Dudley. Teacher Kimberly Cookson, who was 20 years old at the time, wrapped 14-month-old Noah Siband tightly in a sleeping bag and covered his head with a blanket. Because of this, the child was unable to breathe freely. The incident was caught on a surveillance camera, and the recording became the main evidence of the girl's guilt.

Cookson pleaded guilty to manslaughter and appeared in court in Wolverhampton. The mother of the deceased baby stated in court that she handed over her son to people she fully trusted, and now she cannot forgive herself for this. Noah's father added that his son died due to the gross negligence of an adult who was entrusted with taking care of the child, the newspaper writes.

The court noted that such a sleep regime created an extreme risk for a small child, and Cookson's behavior was called blatant negligence. It is noted that kindergarten director Deborah Leitwood pleaded guilty to violating occupational health and safety requirements.

In January, The Mirror newspaper reported that in Minnesota, USA, 18-year-old kindergarten nanny Thea Laudemia Russell was arrested and charged with murdering an 11-month-old child to attract attention.
