Construction of a new dam has begun in the Red Army District of Primorsky Krai, designed to protect the villages of Roshchino and Vostretsovo from flooding. This is reported by the regional government with reference to the Agency for Hydraulic Structures, Land Reclamation and Hydrology, which carries out the work.

According to the agency, the preparatory work has already been completed. The specialists cleared the service passageways, restored the road surface and prepared a site for a temporary campsite. A place for storing building materials is also organized.

"A 3.5 km long upland canal has been cleared. Now we have started the construction of the dam," said Vladimir Kodinev, deputy head of the department.

According to him, seven excavators and bulldozers, four dump trucks, a skating rink, and a shift car are involved in the facility. It is planned to increase the number of vehicles in the near future. To date, the team consists of 13 experienced builders, PrimaMedia news agency clarifies.

The length of the new dam will be 8 km. It will be built from loamy soil with a stone outline. The construction is designed to protect thousands of residents of the villages of Roshchino and Vostretsovo from floods that regularly occur in this area.

In February, it was reported that the Krasnoyarsk Territory would allocate more than 290 million rubles for the safety of hydraulic structures. The funds will be used to repair dams, erect fortifications and clean up the Ambarnaya River.
