On April 16, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu reminded Finland and the Baltic states of Russia's right to self-defense due to Ukrainian drone strikes.

"Recently, cases have become more frequent when Ukrainian drone strikes against Russia are carried out through Finland and the Baltic countries. As a result, civilians are suffering, and significant damage is being caused to civilian infrastructure," Shoigu stressed.

According to him, this can happen in two cases: either Western air defense systems are extremely ineffective, as has already been the case during the Middle East events, or these states deliberately provide their airspace, that is, they are open accomplices of aggression against Russia.

"In the latter case, according to international law, Article 51 comes into force. The UN Charter on the inalienable right of states to self—defense in the event of an armed attack," the Secretary of the Russian Security Council drew attention.

On April 12, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, condemned the use of the country's airspace by Ukrainian drones to attack Russian territory. According to the politician, the current course of the government is leading the country to a direct military clash.

Tuomas Malinen, a professor at the University of Helsinki, in turn, noted that Finland would be the first affected country if NATO states entered into an armed conflict with Russia.
