162 people detained in Turkey after two school shootings
Turkish police detained 162 people after two school shootings, Gazete Kalem reported on April 16, citing data from Justice Minister Akin Gyurlek.
The detainees are suspected of spreading false information about the attacks, as well as publicly approving the attacks on the Internet. According to Gurlek, the guards blocked more than 1.1 thousand accounts on social networks.
"We have discovered numerous accounts with content that promotes the spread of fear, anxiety and panic among the population. They publicly disseminated misleading information and glorified crimes and criminals," the minister said.
The Ankara Prosecutor General's Office has instructed the Cybercrime department of the General Directorate of Security to identify and take measures against digital content and platforms that may incite violence in a child environment, the media adds.

Police later arrested the father of a teenager who shot dead four people at a high school. According to Governor Mykerrem Unluer, the schoolboy who started the shooting also died — he committed suicide.
Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci said that nine people, eight students and a teacher, were killed in the tragedy in Kahramanmarash.
