- The Grinex exchange announced the hacking by Western intelligence agencies and the theft of 1 billion rubles
The Grinex crypto-ruble exchange was subjected to a large-scale cyberattack involving foreign intelligence services, during which funds from Russian users worth more than 1 billion rubles were stolen from the wallets of the platform. On April 16, the press service of the trading platform reported.
According to the company's representatives, the nature of the hacking and digital traces indicate the use of resources and technologies available only to government agencies of unfriendly countries. Grinex stressed that the purpose of the attackers' actions was to undermine Russia's financial sovereignty.
"From the very beginning, the exchange's infrastructure has been under attack. We have recorded systemic attempts to limit the withdrawal of cryptocurrencies outside the CIS," the Telegram channel said.
It is reported that attempts to destabilize the financial sector have now moved into the phase of direct theft of assets of citizens and companies through complex attacks.
Due to the incident, the exchange announced the suspension of operations. An announcement has been posted on the official website of the platform about scheduled maintenance work to improve the quality and stability of the system.
The management of Grinex has already sent all available information to law enforcement agencies. A criminal case has been filed at the location of the company's infrastructure.
On April 6, the press service of Roskomnadzor informed Izvestia that in February and March 2026, experts from the Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communications Network recorded a multiple increase in the number of DDoS attacks, the main target of which were state information resources. The key tool for protecting the domestic infrastructure was the National System for Countering DDoS Attacks (NSPA).
