Hegseth threatened attacks on Iran's energy sector while maintaining the blockade of Hormuz

The United States will strike at Iran's energy infrastructure, while maintaining the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, if Tehran "makes the wrong choice." This was announced by Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth at a briefing on April 16.

"In the meantime, and for as long as it takes, we will continue to maintain this blockade [of the Strait of Hormuz] — a successful blockade. But if Iran makes the wrong choice at an early stage, it will face a blockade and attacks on infrastructure, energy and energy supply," he said.
