The study showed an increase in the popularity of "sleep tourism" among Russians
More than half (52%) of Russians plan vacations to restore sleep, and for 22%, proper rest and getting enough sleep are the main reasons for the trip. This is evidenced by the results of a study of the Onlinetours Premium service, which were reviewed on April 18 by Izvestia.
According to the survey, most people experience chronic sleep deprivation. Only 8% of respondents said that nothing prevents them from sleeping properly. The main causes of sleep disorders were late-night entertainment, including social media and TV series (62%), stress (49%) and work (44%). Gadgets, hobbies, insomnia, and family factors also have an impact.
At the same time, 45% of the survey participants get enough sleep only from time to time, 27% rarely, and 12% experience a constant lack of sleep.
The situation is changing on vacation: more than a third of Russians increase their sleep duration by 1-2 hours, one in five by 3-4 hours, and almost one in five sleeps as much as they want. However, some tourists, on the contrary, reduce their rest time for the sake of an active program.
Digital detox is becoming a separate trend. About 35% of respondents turn off the Internet during their holidays in order to recover better, while most often a comfortable sleep is noted at seaside resorts and in the natural environment outside the city.
Turkey (21%), Russia (14%) and Egypt (11%) are the leaders among the holiday destinations with an emphasis on sleep. Thailand (10%), European destinations (9%) and neighboring countries (8%) are also among the most popular countries.
To avoid irritants and get enough sleep, Russians choose accommodation away from noisy streets (26%), study reviews from other guests (21%), ask for a "quiet room" (18%), and choose rooms with windows facing the courtyard (11%) and on the upper floors (9%).
On April 16, experts from the online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok reported that the number of bookings for the May holidays in Kazan increased by a third compared to last year, in Rybinsk — by a quarter (+24%), in Kostroma — by 22%, in Krasnodar — by 19%, in Yaroslavl — by 16%, in Smolensk — by 15%, in Ryazan — by 12%. In addition, the demand for accommodation is growing most dynamically in China and Abkhazia — by 71% year on year, in Armenia — by 51%, in Turkey — by 43%, in Georgia — by 29%, in Japan — by 12%.
