Fraudsters find old publications on free ad platforms where the owner's number has been preserved, and write to users under the guise of buyers, convincing them of the relevance of the ad. This was announced on April 16 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The user calmly replies that the ad has been inactive or closed for a long time. After that, the attackers send a link and convince the user that the ad is still active," the message in the MAX messenger says.

Law enforcement officers emphasize that the usual dialogue about the ad that the user actually posted, and his desire to figure out why it appeared online again, is the "hook" of the fraudulent scheme.

Further, the scenario may develop in different ways: stealing credentials, gaining access to accounts, or a new stage of pressure involving false employees of government agencies and law enforcement agencies.

On April 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that fraudsters use automatic notifications from antivirus programs to mask malicious software. Such a message claims that the system has detected a threat to the device's security, after which the user is prompted to install an antivirus to protect the data.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
