Skvortsova noted the good tolerability of FMBA cancer vaccines
Oncovaccines from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) Oncopept and Oncorna for colorectal cancer are well tolerated, there are no side effects. This was announced on April 16 by Veronika Skvortsova, head of the agency, at the final board of the FMBA, "Preserving traditions. We are ahead of time."
"Both vaccines are well tolerated, without any side effects," Skvortsova said.
She added that these vaccines are administered to patients with metastatic colorectal cancer after at least two courses of chemotherapy. According to the head of the FMBA, about 600 people have already applied for the first vaccine, the first 27 patients have been selected, two of whom are already receiving treatment. At the same time, permission for its use was received in November last year.
On April 13, the FMBA received approval for the clinical use of Oncorna, a personalized neoantigenic mRNA vaccine for the treatment of colorectal cancer. It was noted that the drug is intended for adult patients with a metastatic form of the disease who have undergone at least two lines of systemic therapy.
Oncologist Evgeny Cheremushkin said on April 1 that in the future, the domestic cancer vaccine will be available for free under compulsory medical insurance, while the vaccine will be developed individually for each tumor. He explained that such vaccines are more often used in the early stages of the disease.
