Russians can cut their mobile phone costs in some cases by half without giving up their usual comfort if they review the set of connected services, tariff and payment scheme. This was announced on April 16 by Igor Balynin, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"First of all, it's worth checking which services are connected to the number. Often, there are old options that people have not used for a long time, but the subscription fee for them continues to be charged. Disabling such services allows you to quickly remove unnecessary costs," the economist said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

He also advised to assess how the current tariff meets real needs. If the subscriber spends only a small part of the minutes and SMS included in the package, it makes sense to switch to a cheaper tariff with a smaller set of services, especially since most of the communication has long been transferred to messengers.

Balynin urged to pay attention to payment discipline: in case of late payment, unused balances may not be transferred, and the connection will begin to be charged individually, which is noticeably more expensive. You also need to keep in mind unused numbers — the operator may start charging the subscription fee after about 90 days of inactivity.

It is noted that family rates and packages allow you to save money when connecting mobile communications with home Internet — in some cases, this gives a discount of up to 30% or more. The expert advised to keep an eye on promotional offers for new customers, which are especially beneficial for those who talk a lot or actively use the mobile Internet.
