State Duma deputies from the Fair Russia faction offered to feed schoolchildren from poor families for free. The corresponding proposal was sent on April 16 to the head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.

"In order to form a targeted social support system, it is advisable to introduce free hot meals for students in grades 4-11 and students of vocational education and training [secondary vocational education], provided that the average per capita family income does not exceed twice the minimum subsistence level established in the Russian Federation region at the place of residence," the document says, which was reviewed by RIA Novosti.

According to Yana Lantratova, one of the authors of the project, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations, this measure will strengthen support measures for students of all ages.
