Starting from April 1, a new procedure for recording water meter readings will be introduced in Russia. Now the results of the meter verification are automatically entered into the Unified State Register of Measuring Instruments (EGRSI). This was announced on April 16 by State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev (LDPR).

"Starting from April 1, 2026, the results of meter verification are automatically sent to the Unified State Register of Measuring Instruments. If the verification interval has expired and the verification has not been carried out, the meter readings are not accepted for calculation, and charges are made according to the standard," Svishchev emphasized.

The deputy recommends that citizens specify in advance in their management organization the timing of taking testimony and the available ways of transmitting it — for example, through the Gosuslugi portal, the management company's mobile application or banking services. He also advises saving photos or recordings of readings from the last few months. This will help protect your interests in case of disputes.

Sofya Lukinova, head of the legal department at VMT Consult, said on April 15 that insults in a house chat addressed to other residents would result in a fine, slander could lead to a fine of up to 500,000 rubles, and threats could result in criminal penalties up to imprisonment. According to Lukinova, complaining about neighbors in chat rooms is acceptable, but it is important to maintain a neutral tone and not use offensive language.
