More than 720 thousand outdoor lighting elements will be washed in Moscow

Specialists of the urban economy complex have begun a large-scale flushing of street lighting facilities in Moscow. This was announced by the Deputy mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

According to him, as part of the spring cleaning, it is planned to wash more than 720 thousand elements of outdoor lighting — fixtures, brackets, bases and supports, as well as paint over 100 thousand elements. He specified that car towers, irrigation equipment and manual cleaning crews are involved in the work.

Biryukov stressed that the renovation of the lighting system elements after the winter will be completed by the end of April. He added that work is currently underway along major outbound highways, in squares, in pedestrian areas of the capital's center and on bridges. At the same time, according to him, modern biodegradable detergents are used that do not harm the environment, the Moscow City News agency reports.

The head of the municipal management complex also recalled that the power engineers have already switched street lighting and architectural lighting to summer operation. He noted that more than a million lamps have been installed in Moscow, while the increase in energy consumption is not due to the use of energy-efficient LEDs, writes Moscow 24.
