Tricolor satellite television operator has expanded the coverage area of television broadcasting after restoring the broadcast from an orbital position of 56 degrees east longitude, the company's press service reported. Subscribers receive the TV signal from three positions at once: 36, 56 and 75 degrees.

Broadcasting at 56 degrees resumed on April 13, when the Express—AT2 satellite, which had previously operated at 140 degrees, was transferred there. This made it possible to return the signal to subscribers without reconfiguring the equipment, as well as increase the number of available reception options.

The need to transfer the satellite arose after the accident on March 4, when the Express-AT1 spacecraft failed at a position of 56 degrees. Tricolor began transferring customers to the Express-AMU1 satellite (36 degrees), the broadcast from which was not interrupted. For regions outside the coverage area of this device, the company launched broadcasting from a position of 75 degrees as part of the Tricolor Federal project on March 17. The launch was originally planned for the third quarter of 2026.

The coverage area of Express-AT2 differs from Express-AT1, and the operator continues to work on expanding it and improving signal quality, Tricolor noted. In addition, the company forms channel plans at positions 56 and 75 degrees.

Currently, Tricolor's technological infrastructure consists of four satellites: Express-AMU1 and Eutelsat 36D at 36 degrees, Express-AT2 at 56 degrees and ABS-2A at 75 degrees.
