US President Donald Trump has said that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a tragic mistake by closing oil fields in the North Sea. The American leader said this in an interview with Sky News on April 15.

"I like Starmer, but it seems to me that he made a tragic mistake by closing the North Sea oil fields," Trump stressed.

In this regard, he drew attention to the highest electricity prices in Britain. The American leader also noted that Starmer had made a "tragic mistake in the field of immigration."

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the importance of the Strait of Hormuz at a meeting on April 12 and stressed the importance of reducing tensions in the region. According to Starmer and Macron, a ceasefire solution in the region must include Lebanon to maintain stability.

The Sky News channel, citing a source in the Government of the United Kingdom, on the same day published information that the United Kingdom does not intend to support the American blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. It was clarified that representatives of the United Kingdom are working with France and other partners to create a coalition to protect freedom of navigation.
