Sobyanin spoke about popular children's clubs and sections in Moscow

More than 1.5 million Moscow children (89% of the total number) are engaged in various city sections and clubs. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

In his channel on the IACH, the mayor recalled that sports clubs operate in all Moscow schools, hundreds of school theaters and theater associations are organized.

"IT clubs and sections where children study robotics, 3D modeling, programming, computer engineering, and create mobile applications are popular," the mayor wrote. "In natural science circles on botany, zoology, ecology, and biology, children conduct research and develop projects to improve the urban environment."

Last year, when the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was celebrated, the first three children's sports and patriotic camps were opened in Moscow. "Last summer, six two-week shifts were held for students in grades 7-10. This year we will increase the number of camps to 10 so that 13,000 children can relax," Sobyanin said.

In general, patriotic education and the preservation of historical memory have an important role to play. The mayor recalled that 912,000 schoolchildren and college students took part in patriotic events last year. Under the patronage of schools and colleges in the capital, there are "over a thousand military graves, monuments and obelisks erected in honor of war heroes," Sobyanin added.

At the end of March, the mayor announced that interest in the natural science vertical had doubled among Moscow schoolchildren over the past four years. About 15,000 people study in classes that are open in almost half of the capital's schools, he said.

In specialized grades 7-9, students receive advanced training in biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as learn practical skills through additional courses. "The guys are engaged in research and development of projects based on partner schools and universities, and then present them at city scientific and practical conferences," Sobyanin said.
