Lavrov pointed to the EU's attempts to turn Serbia into an anti-Russian buffer zone.
Brussels is trying to turn Serbia into a buffer zone against Russia. This was announced on April 15 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference in Beijing.
He noted that Serbia was given two conditions for joining the European Union (EU) — recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed Kosovo, as well as joining all European sanctions against Russia.
"That's it. That is, they are trying to make some kind of buffer zone from Serbia to counteract Russia," Lavrov said.
